  1. Hey, the Amish population in the US still calls Americans "Englishmen." It's not surprising that in some countries they use the England/English term generically. In my home country of the US, we usually say "British" as nationality and call the island (and its territories) the UK. Scotland is normally referred to as Scotland here because a large number of people with Scottish heritage live in the US and the culture has remained its own.
