  1. The AIM-9x is for closer shots. But overall, I'd argue the Meteor is likely the best, though the next AIM-120 will incorporate some of the same technologies, which will probably place it on par.

  2.  @paulrodgers7634  - That would likely be the AIM-120. The first U.S. air-to-air kill since 1999 was at the hand of an AIM-120 fired by an F/A-18 Super Hornet aviator. He fired an AIM-9x first which missed, then got him with the AIM-120.
