Well that is pretty much a given. Opening a two front war with Russia invading from the east and the U.S. invading from the west would be impossible for the EU to defend against. Russia's land gains would also make room for the U.S. to establish air bases. And don't forget that Russia could cut off much of Europe's energy supply. It'd be over before it started. Plus, if the U.S. had access to Kaliningrad, that alone is a game changer.

@phantomfreeman283 - Before coronavirus my job took me across the world, though mostly Europe and South America. Nobody ever treated me poorly because I'm from the US and all of my experiences were positive. I don't think anyone is keen to fight anyone else. These videos are just for fun.

@markjohnson9476 - In fairness this was individual support from Irish-American citizens. The U.S. government itself wasn't funding the IRA. It's also been a VERY long time since I saw any IRA fundraising movements. In NYC and Boston during the 70s/80s, my understanding is that it was pretty common to see Irish newspapers soliciting funds.

@Regis1995 - Actually, yes, I do think UK/US culture is more similar than that of the UK and many EU nations. A shared language and our two militaries actually fighting alongside one another for the better part of the last 20 years is a very big deal. Plus the US and UK militaries are extremely intertwined - just see the F-35 project. Mainland Europe is still very tribal. There are people in Italy still talking about the Sienna-Florence War.

@MajinOthinus - True, but Europe's long-range air defense network is not particularly potent (neither is the U.S.'s) and much of it relies on U.S. equipment. NASAMS, for example, uses the American AIM-120 missile. And the S-300 unit they spoke about belongs to Greece and is stuck in Cyprus and would not be transported to Ireland.

Nah. Now Russia, on the other hand...

He mentioned Spain. I think the idea is that the U.S. would never get to open a theater there because they'd be bogged down in Ireland. There's also Gibraltar to think about. That could bring the U.K. into the conflict.
