  1. The best plan for the LCS ships is probably to come up with a minimal "fix" for the combining gear issue and sell them to the Philippines, where a Pacific war would actually be largely focused on littoral combat. You're never going to truly solve the combining gear issue, but there are workarounds that would work for navies other than the USN.

  2.  @muratbayraktar5035  Well, actually, yes, that is exactly what the U.S. would do. Target legitimate military targets like Hainan with nuclear weapons to collapse the base and destroy the remaining fleet. And yes, this would probably lead to MAD. Which is why China wouldn't start that particular fire in the first place.
