At this point they could not, but if Brazil continues building up a large Air Force, purchases new carriers and develops the Gripen Maritime carrier-borne variant, they will have the ability to legitimately project power. At this point, it would be interesting to see if Spain could invoke Article V since they would, technically, be under attack by a non-NATO state (though on behalf of a fellow NATO state, plus there is also the occasional idea that Brazil could eventually join NATO).

Ireland doesn't own a single combat aircraft. The Irish are good at guerilla tactics but this implies that the UK would already have beaten them and be in the midst of occupying them. Could they muster up enough men and weapons to eventually drive Britain out (again), maybe (likely with help from their connections in South America and Hezbollah), but an initial invasion would be about as easy as the U.S. ousting Saddam.

@Joker-yw9hl - Same here. I live in the U.S., but my grandfather came here from Ireland because he was disgusted with his country and its non-existent will to fight to be truly independent. He later wanted to enlist in the U.S. Army to fight in World War II, but he had just missed the age cutoff.

Fully mobilized? No. The reality is that no world power, including Russia and China, have anywhere near the transport capability to bring the number of weapons, troops and materiel it would take to pull off something like this. Incoming combat aircraft would be picked off halfway across the Atlantic and Pacific as they refuel, as well as AEW aircraft and tankers. Ships would be sunk before they could get in range of launching any attacks. Once infantry arrives, they must defeat the U.S. Marines AND the U.S. Army on its own turf. Then there are the Rocky Mountains. How does the opposing force cross them? Also, keep in mind that there are more guns than people in the U.S. Japan once considered what to do if an occupation of the U.S. mainland was an option. They decided that Americans resorting to guerilla tactics would be such an impediment it would likely not be worth the effort. People also need to stop talking about internal American politics. You can dislike the current president, or congress, or whoever, but nothing pulls a country together like foreigners occupying your soil. We, as Americans, should arguably know that best.
