  1. AWACS (AEWS) planes are getting smaller, not larger. The E-3 Sentry (707) is being replaced in US, UK and Australian service with the E7-A Wedgetail based on the 737-800. Many countries have adopted bizjet-based options with huge altitude and range advantages, especially when using the Saab AEW system. The Embraer R-99 is the best example of this.
