  1. There is also a political angle to this. The reality is that no American government will allow the U.S. to be removed from the global airliner market. Boeing is the only American company capable of filling this role. It would also be a gigantic and, perhaps, existential threat to national security. If Boeing was truly going to fail, chances are the government would force a (likely subsidized) sale to Lockheed, RTX or another company of that stature.
