The word has lost its meaning because it's generally thrown around by people on the political left toward anyone who disagrees with their activist politics. At one time people took being called a "racist" seriously. Now it's a roll of the eyes and a pat on the head for the petulant children who want their cookie for sufficient virtue signaling. DEI, by definition, is the antithesis of quality, efficiency and open-mindedness. It's group think and ultimately toxic – which is why companies around the world are publicly and vocally abandoning it as a business practice.
