  3. It's "flyable," but not "insurable," and could be precluded by administrative regulations. I guess some countries might allow them in their airspace and airports, but I doubt the FAA or EASA would. Ditto for Japan, Australia, Brazil, and any other country that tends to follow the lead of the big guys. I suppose India is something of a wildcard, but I doubt they want the headache and liability of any of this either.

  5. The issue is less about the airframes, and more that the engines in those planes are not even remotely as efficient as western engines, and there are no Russian (nor Chinese) equivalents. Russian electronics have not competed in the civilian market whatsoever in decades and were never developed. The airframes themselves, FWIW, were all designed by the Soviets, not the post-CCCP Russians. Putin destroyed what should have been a thriving country that could have built on a rich aviation and aerospace history.

Turkey isn't going to rock the boat too much on this, especially after getting booted out of the F-35 program and on the cusp of beginning to market some of their own aerospace tech internationally. They have a lot to lose, and don't want to lose any more than they already have for the sake of buddying up with Russia.
