I've never been addicted to opiates, but I began using kratom a few years ago after someone said it helped with their restless leg syndrome. It's been absolutely great for me! I did have a prescription from my doctor, and it worked, but it made me very drowsy into the next day. Kratom has a very slight feeling of relaxation before bed, and it completely got rid of the RLS. I can't speak to opiate comparisons, but I'm glad the fear-mongering over this has ceased just a bit. I've found it to be completely harmless and very helpful for me.
