I must admit, I rarely use cash anywhere in the world, but whenever I visit a new country for the first time, I do take out one large banknote from an ATM machine so I can make a couple of routine purchases and come home with a few souvenirs in the form of "exotic" money from lands far away from the United States. It produces a much better memory, and can more easily be saved through time, than any tee shirt or drinking glass.
