The Latvian government official babbling about Russia being "not that oppressive" should voluntarily waive diplomatic immunity and go protest in Moscow and see what happens. Couldn't be anything that bad, right?

@jgw9990 I'm not sure you understand how it works in Russia. There are FSB (domestic security service) agents embedded with the conscripts. If they act up, complain, surrender or do not follow orders to go on suicide missions, they're killed. Voluntarily going to war in order to try to start a mutiny is one of the absolute dumbest things I've ever heard in my life.

Yeah, even in the United States, the perspective of people in Washington D.C. is generally quite different from the remainder of the country. That's how a lot of our crazier court rulings begin, too, since juries chosen from this geographic area are somewhat removed from the mainstream.
