  1. Poland is beloved in the US, and the diaspora is huge. Having grown up in the northeast, a good portion of my friends were of Polish descent. Now in Florida, there are a lot of native Poles who have winter homes here (or they come visit their American children here for the season). It's such a friendly and welcoming culture. I'm glad I've gotten to visit in person too.

  2. I live in the suburbs of Miami. Last week, we had some work done at my house and one of the guys had only been in the U.S. for two months after fleeing Cuba. I've never seen such a happy guy in my life. He said he loved everything (especially the ability to buy whatever food you want, whenever you want it, and also freedom of speech, which I found interesting) about the U.S. so far. One day, however, he'd like to visit Costa Rica since he's fascinated by the place. I showed him some pictures from when I was down there a few years ago. He liked the pictures, but more importantly pointed out how incredible the phones here are in terms of apps and capabilities. No geopolitical point to the story beyond the appreciation Cubans would seemingly have for the chance to have a democratic government and be able to develop their OWN indigenous economy. There's a definitely desire by young people to have the same lifestyle as their counterparts 90 miles away. Either way, there's one guy here who's going to be a great American once he becomes a permanent resident/citizen.

It is based in Lakewood, NJ, which is a town effectively controlled by the community in the U.S. Everything going on in this one city is a microcosm of this entire video, and it has produced some nasty fights and a lot of anger between them and the secular/mainstream religious community.

If nothing else, it confirms Kuznetsov will probably never sail again, and Russia is abandoning carrier ops since they're about to waste the guys with the institutional knowledge of how to run one.

Half of the people who saw that clip feel the way you do, and the other half saw someone who is supposed to be a "journalist" doing exactly what the right accuses journalists of doing every day – attacking a candidate, lobbing disrespectful, loaded "gotcha" questions and looking down at someone with whom they disagree with arrogance and disdain. Most people I know loved that Trump gave it right back. And factually, he was correct. He's running against someone who changes her identity – political and even racial – depending on the way the wind is blowing that day. The fact that we even have segregated groups of "journalists" in the US in 2024 is mind-boggling.

  22.  @blackcatdungeonmastersfami5311  I think the numbers have been fairly well-established, but at issue is how many were the result of friendly fire or malfunctions/mishaps. The Su-34, in particular, has had some very serious reliability issues, including one that crashed as it was literally flying out of the factory. This is the result of sanctions, at least in significant part. Russia is certainly losing these aircraft, but what we don't know is how many of them were brought down by Ukraine versus the number minus fodder for morale-boosting.

  32. They hit it with a high-end Kalibr missile. There aren't enough western SAM batteries to cover the entire country, and most are covering the capital. They will be getting more Patriot batteries and SAMP/T soon, but the reality is that western nations take care of air superiority with manned fighters rather than ground units. We just don't have a ton of SAM batteries to go around, and some have to be held back in case China invades Taiwan.

The RS-26A is, factually, an "intermediate range" ballistic missile, as agreed upon by everyone. In other words, the press likes to sensationalize what ATACMS can do in order to stoke fears of World War III breaking out.

They barely attend church services and have largely abandoned organized religion despite continuing to follow some social traditions. I have never heard any Christian person, in Germany, the US, or elsewhere, seeking to impose biblical law upon the rest of the country, or trying to carry medieval brutalities into 2024. Ultimately, we have to admit that the world is not a group of people singing Kumbaya around a campfire. Certain cultures are simply incompatible, and unless newcomers to the west are willing to fully adapt to western culture and lifestyle, these problems will continue. I would never be so arrogant as to move to another country and segregate myself from the local culture of that country.

  44. The problem is that the people running this administration actually do put electric vehicle policies and other polarizing social issues above serious geopolitical considerations. The administration is a rudderless ship that is staffed with many young, inexperienced partisans who care more about virtue signaling to their digital audience than negotiating strategically advantageous deals with the larger rules-based world order in mind.

Florida used to be like this in the U.S., but they used tax incentives and placed a lot of money behind redevelopment projects (mainly along the I-4 corridor and a bit in southeast FL) and now the young population is the fastest growing. If anything, the problem now is literally finding enough people to work on all of the infrastructure projects that are ongoing. That has also significantly increased the state's political clout, which is either a wonderful thing or horrible thing depending on which side of the aisle one falls.
