  2. It provides Russia an escape route in the case of a withdrawal, especially for the civilians they moved in after the annexation. Ukraine does not want to have to physically expel all of these people once they regain sovereignty over the peninsula. The bridge can be properly dismantled post-war by construction firms.

  4. A mission kill is as good as a fully kinetic kill. There's also nothing stopping them from simply going after the bridge again. Remember, the bridge also gives Russia an ESCAPE route that could help expel them from the country faster in the end.

  5. They hit it with a high-end Kalibr missile. There aren't enough western SAM batteries to cover the entire country, and most are covering the capital. They will be getting more Patriot batteries and SAMP/T soon, but the reality is that western nations take care of air superiority with manned fighters rather than ground units. We just don't have a ton of SAM batteries to go around, and some have to be held back in case China invades Taiwan.
