  1.  @samhull8382  Yes, but the US and NATO allies generally use air platforms rather than surface ships to conduct signals intelligence. The P-8 Poseidon is used by the US Navy and Australia in this role, as well as the RC-135 and its variants operated by the USAF, RAF, and a designated NATO airframe.
