That's an unfair knock on Morocco. It could happen anywhere if you cross paths with a crazy person. I visited Morocco this year and met some of the most welcoming folks ever. It was a great experience. No one batted an eye that an American was enjoying dinner with them in the town square, riding along, stopping in stores, etc.

@BeholdItKnits - Fewer people have passports because the sheer size of the U.S. passes through so many climates and landscapes that people experience their own country before going abroad. Plus, until recently, no passport was required to visit many of our neighboring countries. I obviously have one because I travel to Europe and South America frequently (Africa on occasion), but I've also seen most of the U.S. and am just a travel junkie in general. There are understandable explanations for why fewer U.S. residents have passports as compared to Europe. If our country was the size of most European countries, and we needed a passport to travel from New York to Florida, for example, 95% of people would have them.

Interesting. I was in Morocco this summer and did not notice it at all. People seemed eager to take pictures, actually. The locals took our picture and some posed with us at some cool sites we got to see. What part of the country were you in?
