  2. There's no reason you couldn't but there isn't much of a point. IR-based missiles (AIM-9X, ASRAAM, Magic II, IRIS-T, R-73) have their own seekers.

  3. Exactly. This video made it out to sound as if stealth tech has been rendered worthless by Russia and China. Yet Russia and China are both building and developing stealth aircraft.

  4. Runways can be repaired very quickly. All major world militaries train to do this regularly. Then there are the 11 moving airbases in the form of carriers – with the UK soon potentially being able to surge two. Then there are bombers which can operate from anywhere in the world. Then, in the case of the US, UK, Japan, Australia and South Korea (plus others), there is also the F-35B STOVL option if a traditional runway is killed. Then there are palletized munitions that can be deployed via Ro/Ro containers from C-17s and A400Ms that may have taken off from another continent. Damaging some runways is more of a pain in the ass than anything else.

  5. It has some limited IR capabilities, but it's not really a major factor. Ground-based IRST really isn't too much of a thing. I think you'll see mast-deployed EOTS (like the F-35) at some point because they can be used for wider battlespace management purposes.
