@boiboiboi1419 - Swarming a fleet with cruise missile strikes is not "asymmetrical doctrine." Asymmetrical doctrine is using modified fishing dhows or pleasure boats to fire short-range anti-ship rockets or missiles. Cruise missile tech is, indeed, symmetrical, and in the wheelhouse of the American military. It's where the U.S. shines. Remember that the U.S. has air bases in close proximity to Iran. If the U.S. detects the fire control radar of a cruise missile battery is preparing to fire on ships USN destroyers or cruisers themselves will fire volleys of Tomahawks at the launch site, and EA-18G Growers will be launched to target the controlling radars with HARM missiles while F-35s will be activated in a QRA to destroy the physical launch cells.

@martinclennon4640 - The issue with this will be the U.S. response. If China were to delivery a first-strike nuclear weapon, even in a tactical role, stealth B-2s would quickly arrive over Chinese territory armed with nuclear weapons ready to retaliate on every naval base in the PRC. B-52s will carry out the same tactical nuclear mission to deployed Chinese warships, as well as B-1Bs armed with the LRASM (B1-Bs are currently deconfigured from carrying nukes under an agreement with Russia, however this may change in the future). China's navy would cease to exist within hours of a single DF-21D attack if armed with a nuclear warhead.

It's off the George Washington Memorial Parkway off I-495 at the edge of DC/VA. You can see it (well, the sign) for yourself. I wouldn't try getting in without a very, very good reason to do so.

The one thing I do trust about the Chinese is their commitment against a nuclear first-strike. This has been embedded into military culture in China for decades. We may think of the Chinese as morally-broke robots, but that is not correct. They do have principals, and a no first-strike policy has always been one of utmost importance to them. In the almost guaranteed-unlikely event that an EMP was ever utilized to disable naval comms, there are sufficient backup systems. And, frankly, there are plenty of Vietnam-era vets who could be called upon in a pinch to provide morse code comms and train current enlisted in that skill. (They phased it out during the conflict but training was still commonplace.) In a shooting war, you'd have plenty of people with unique skills volunteering to help.

For all we know, we're experiencing how bio-weapons are being used as we speak...

The guy who wrote that article was a CNN reporter for almost his entire career. He only recently began working at FNC. Most of the people in mainstream roles covering defense are just people who were assigned that beat. If you want decent reporting on defense, you need to read industry publications, or even something like The War Zone blog.
