@carlosdomingo1453 - The U.S. has the "right" to deploy missiles in Europe because Europe asked. They could kick the U.S. out if they wanted, but then what is to stop Putin from annexing portions of eastern Europe? Imposing its will on western Europe? Putin drools at the chance of expansion. Realize that most of Europe is made up of geographically tiny countries. Without the umbrella of U.S. military protection, these countries are sitting ducks. Estonia, Finland, and others cannot defend themselves against Russia. The U.S. is the counterbalance to the gigantic country right next to Europe that has a history of invading neighbors when they feel like doing so.

@carlosdomingo1453 - Huh? The U.S. needs Venezuela's oil? If it needed it that bad, they would've taken out Maduro in a day or two. The very fact that America, which is perfectly capable of ousting Maduro and occupying Venezuela, has not done so, proves your statement wrong. If it was required, it would have already happened. A single U.S. carrier has three times the number of combat aircraft than the entire Venezuelan Air Force. A joint U.S.-Colombian land invasion from the north would capture Maracaibo in no time. The oil is there for the taking if a superpower wants it badly enough. My guess is the only scenario where the U.S. invades Venezuela is if Maduro does something contrary to the Monroe Doctrine - ie. allowing Russia to establish a naval base in the western hemisphere.

@carlosdomingo1453 - The U.S. was able to test it a week later because they simply took a vertical launcher off a ship, stuck it on a truck, and fired it. It's not like this was some revolutionary new missile platform. It was equipment that has existed for decades.
