I love Islay whisky. So Scotland is my country of choice. That said, if you've tried some japanese brands it's quite obvious that they've taken inspiration from Scotland first and foremost while making them. It's really nice.

My favourite whiskys come from Islay in Scotland (Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Caol Ila, Bruchladdich, Bunnahabhain, Bowmore among others) But I've tried some Japanese whiskys too (Yamazaki being the one I remember most) and they make quite good whisky. While they're not as smoky and peaty as islay whisky, they definitely resemble Scottish whisky in taste and smell. I can drink American whiskey/Tenessee style whiskey too I guess, but they're usually too sweet and fruity for my taste. I like it when it smells like freshly tarred boat and tastes like alcohol, death and an ashtray. :P

Also, you should be able to tell the difference between an 18 year old single malt and a 12 year old single malt. 18 year olds are usually significantly stronger. (the older they get, the higher the alcohol content)

C O N S T A N T V A R I A B L E S: I'd say Scotlands ass-kissing of the EU ruined Scotland. It was quite surprising to see how the English showed more balls by voting for Brexit, while Scot-leaders still push for more EU-bullshit and condemn the English for Brexit.

If you like whisky... Don't spell it as "whiskEEEEy" Whisky is scotish (or japanese, seeing as how japanese distilleries model theirs after Scotlands manufacturing). WhiskEEEY is Irish or American. //The whisky snob has spoken :P

Little girl, men have beards. Deal with it.

Metal Tao: Yes, around that. A "fresh" 10 year old batch lands around 40 % (depending on brand and distillation). But 18 year olds land around 50 %, and after that even 30-40 year olds and even 100 year olds salvaged from sunken shipwrecks and such rarely surpass much further than 60 % At least regular market stuff. The distillery could of course purify it further during creation. But maturation in a bottle usually doesn't go higher than 10 %.

electronic wizard: I was referring to the original poster who just spent his time watching pewds drinking whisky, not pewds himself. :P
