  2. As an atheist, I wouldn't say I do not believe in universal perspectives. Rather, I think the most noble as well as entertaining goal is to try and find those universal perspectives through study. Of course I can't just accept some holy texts written by primitive ancestors as the final word in what the universal purpose is. But that doesn't mean I reject the notion that there might be one. To illustrate the differences between myself and the religious: the faithful look at the universe and see a roadmap. All is laid out in a clear path to follow. I look at the universe and see a puzzle box. Something interesting is hidden inside of it, and it's everyones mission to contribute towards unlocking it.
