  1. Standard working hours for most professions in my country is 9 hours per day, where one hour is set aside for unpaid lunch break. So 8 hours of work per day. Full time amounts to 40 hours per week of work. But it depends on the type of job of course (some jobs entails working more hours one week, while having the next week off etc.)

  2. This sounds like good news. Employees need lesiure time! They will do a better job as well. Inspiration, motivation and creative thinking is not created while at work. It is created during the downtime between work shifts. You encounter problems while working. But you come up with creative solutions for them when you think about the problems when you're away from work, pondering over them or discussing the problems with your family and friends by getting new input and fresh perspectives from the outside. Smart companies take advantage of this and try to ensure that their employees aren't overworked. If all the energy that your employees have left after a shift is to eat and sleep, then your business will suffer.
