  1. Being able to memorize the results of calculations does not necessarily make you good at mathematics. Knowing HOW to do calculations (even using a calculator) determines your skill. Memorizing results might help you pass grade school mathematics. But when you reach university levels your professor is going to want to know HOW you solve a particular calculation, because it's about understanding the relationship between numbers, decimals and variables and how they interact when they're subtracred, added, multiplied, divided, derived and so on.
