  1. It's important to make a distinction between abuse and corporal punishment. Punishment is not met out from anger, but as education. And should only ever be used when the child is behaving in a harmful manner (like being violent towards others or putting their own lives at risk). Some things children will need to be "traumatized" to stay away from. And they don't have the mental capacity to be reasoned with as you would with an adult. Abuse however is when the parent is using physical violence out of personal frustration and anger and takes it out on their child.
