It's awful knowing that soldiers were DRAFTED to fight in this utterly meaningless and unecessary war. If you sign up as a volunteer, then that's one thing. Although volunteers are lied to by governments too, which is a damn shame (a government should have their armed forces back, not betray them) But being FORCED to fight in such a shitshow of a war is beyond reprehensible. To all the draft dodgers out there: you did the right thing. If the enemy is at your countrys doorstep, then you should pick up a weapon and fight when your government calls on you. But when they try to ship you off to the other side of the earth to fight in some country that has no hope at all to threaten your homeland, then you should refuse and dodge the authorities trying to force you as much as you possibly can.

@Tricknologist : Duty is something you voluntarily sign up for. Nobody signed up to get drafted. The state just arbitrarily decided that they would choose men and send them to die on the other side of the earth, despite the fact that these men didn't sign up for anything. That's not duty. That's slavery. As a responsible citizen it's also ones civic duty to make it as difficult for the government as possible to pursue unjust wars (that is wars that has nothing to do with protecting the homeland), including insubordination and dodging drafts. I will accept duty when i'm asked to be a defender of my homeland. I will never accept being drafted to act as a hired killer/thug for the government in some faraway land that can't even threaten my own land.
