@thecheese4255 Well let's put it this way: in prison you're a net financial burden on the state. A state that clearly is short of money since they resort to conscription in the first place. If enough people refuse the draft and choose prison over military service, the state will be sweating bullets.

It doesn't matter whether those states wanted to join Nato or not. The issue is whether Nato really made the world safer and more peaceful by allowing them into the alliance in the first place.
