  2.  @paulcunnane4  No, they're not. As with many countries, the national identity is not chained to whatever authoritarian regime that happens to be in governemt. There is a concept of Britishness that exists outside of the Royal Family and Parliament. The spirit of a nation does not equate to the rulers. The rulers are supposed to be mere administrators and temporary custodians of it's borders.
