I'm happy Beau found employment with his calling. I suspect he probably took a paycut to do it as well (investment managers certainly earn more than alt media employees, even if Carl most certainly pay a fair wage) It's a good lesson and inspiration in seizing the opportunity when it presents itself to do what you love in life, even if some sacrifices has to be made to do it.

Hell yes. I'll take an enthusiastic and almost naive but knowledgeable history fanboy over a haughty and pretentious history professor any day of the week. Any man can regurgitate facts. But not every man can inspire a sense of wonder and amazement over broad and sometimes tedious topics when talking about them. I'd even go so far as to say that history teachers has a thing or two to learn from history youtubers in the ways of getting a class/audience feel engaged.

Another good way to absorb history is going through channels that delve into the practicalities of history. You have the informally dubbed "community of the sword" for example. A group of loosely affiliated content creators like The Metatron, Jason Kingsley, The Shadiversity, Skallagrim Tod's Workshop and a bunch of others who test, review and take in depth looks at historical weapons and armour. It's a good way to bring history out of the realm of just being about years, dates and names of rulers. Townsends is also a great channel looking into various facets of life in the late 1700's and most of the 1800's that deals a lot with cooking, building things, clothing, smithing, survivalism and so on.
