The first two to three Alien films was really female empowerment done right. Not once do you think of Ripley as a woman trying to be a man. She's vulnerable and scared and quite clearly aware of her limitations, but she perseveres against the cosmic horrors through force of will and ingenuity. In the second alien film, she became the mama bear rage personified instead of trying to act like a male action hero, and it worked perfectly. If I am blessed with a daughter, I'll have her watch these films for inspiration.

Lefties see homoeroticism in anything pertaining to male bonding and friendship. And there's a reason for this: either because the lefty in question is a woman, who simply do not understand the way male bonding works. Or it's a lefty male, who used to be the bullied nerd in school and grew up to become a sarcastic, effeminate, quippy and insufferable little twerp who AGAIN don't understand how male bonding works among masculine men.
