Their "mud huts" look like Adobes to me. It's not terrible as far as accomodations go.

Starting out with individual dwellings seems like the wrong way to go about it if you ask me. Not very practical. If I were to attempt it, I think setting up a communal sleeping barracks at first would be more practical. The you have to get crop fields and a steady supply of drinking water going first. Once this is taken care or, you can start looking at erecting individual dwellings. The most fair way would be through a raffle lottery whereby every prospective household enters their names. And the winner gets their home erected first with the help of the entire community. Once the first individual dwelling is done you move on to the next one and so on. If for whatever reason anyone who already has a dwelling decides to leave or not participate in the building of other dwellings, they are kicked out or leave on their own accord, and the next one up in the raffle moves into the vacant dwelling. And you keep doing this until all the members of the commune have their personal dwellings.

I wish them the best of luck. I also wish more socialists would do this. If they're so sure of socialism being the right way, they have every opportunity to prove it by pooling resources together, buy some land and build their own communes, working towards proving socialism right. All power to them for taking this road. The socialists I hate are the ones who advocate for stealing stuff from people who don't wish to partake in their utopian experiments.

Heartattack 77 For sure. Not very "modern", and it may be difficult to figure out ways to safely do plumbing and electricity in them that way. But Adobe dwellings don't look and feel "cheap" as such, and they work in Mexico and other parts of south and central america since there's not much in the way of excessive winter chill to keep out.
