@lvd8122 : That's flawed reasoning. Yes body armor will help you survive against bullets shot by police officers. However not only police officers have guns. What's wrong with being able to protect your vital organs when criminals shoot at you? Do you advocate that law abiding citizens should just accept being shot and die due to criminal acts?

Russia has proper faith in their armed forces. They don't really care whatever weapons or bodyarmor a lone nutjob might bring to cause harm. Because they know that they have armed forces that don't play around.

@cattraknoff : It's true that the best antidote against a bad guy with a gun is several good guys with a gun. But even if you were an anti-gun advocate it makes no sense wanting to ban body armor for regular people. They SAVE lives from gunshot injuries after all. And even if a terrorist or crazy shooter were to use bullet resistant armor, they are likely to do down after being shot by police. After all, they may keep you from dying but cracked ribs and getting seriously winded after being hit (probably several times since police will undoubtedly outnumber any would be terrorist or criminal) is extremely common. So it's not like the armor will allow you to simply shrug off a gunshot impact to the chest like it's nothing.

@guga_man : It actually makes sense for hunters to use protection as well. Hunters do get killed on a yearly basis due to accidental shootings (undisciplined hunters can be trigger happy and mistake a fellow hunter for wild game, or hunters stumble into fields of fire where dogs are supposed to herd game animals towards) Hunters wearing bullet resistant vests would only serve to reduce yearly fatalities due to hunting accidents.
