Catonius: Not really. It's more of a surefire way to cause deadly infections for yourself. As any modern and superior soldier know: keeping your feet dry, warm and free of cuts and wounds is key to be able to wage a war. (you don't want to skimp on the money when getting yourself a pair of combat boots) Your "tough feet" won't do you much good when they have to be amputated due to gangrene or frostbite.

TheReptillian BountyHunter: And they sucked. No proper soldier today would wear sandals during a mission.

Toney Sebits: Calloused skin can cause problems in itself though. Problems like reduced blood circulation in limbs and extemeties since the callouses grow so thick that the put pressure on the blood vessels inside. It's a problem that quickly becomes apparent in many armies who conduct training exercises in cold weather, but also amomg mountain hikers. Frost bite in toes and fingers sets in a lot quicker in people who have callouses in bad spots in their toes and fingers than it tends to do in people with uncalloused hands and feet for this reason.
