  2.  @viysnjor4811  Beheadings were reserved for nobles in many european cultures. Only commoners declared guilty of a crime would be subjected to hangings. So there's still a component of respect to it. That said, executions after court cases are not really the same thing as battlefield executions or taking the head of a slain enemy.
