After all when there has been any battle where a vastly numerically inferior force manage to defeat a numerically superior force, it is usuallu both noted and highlighted quite a lot. For example: The Battle of Thermopylæ Granted it wasn't "just" Leonidas and 300 spartans holding off the Persian Army at the time, but a couple of thousand other greeks, so the 300 mythology has been exaggerated somewhat. But even with the other greek troops they were a quite small force compared to the persians, and both historians and storytellers in general love to highlight such facts in all records they write. Commanders of triumphant numerically inferior forces would also waste no time patting their men and themselves on the back when writing their own accounts. But in this letter there's hardly any mention of it whatsoever.
