  1. First thing that comes to mind: the common benefits of titanium alloy is the fact that it is comparable to good steel, but almost at half the weight. Now compare titanium breastplate of the same weight as a steel breastplate and you'll only end up with a lighter breastplate of similar performance. BUT! What if you made a titanium breastplate of the same weight as the steel breastplate? This would make the titanium breastplate thicker. More material = better absorption of impact = better protection.
