  1. Did the Lorica Segmentata primarily rest on the shoulders of it's wearer? It looks like it would. Seems to be a definitive evolution in armor after the roman empire where plate armour rested primarily on the hips then. And if so I could see the reasoning behind it, since armor resting most of it's weight on the shoulders would tire the wearers arms faster and somewhat constrict blood flow to the arms, whereas an armour made to rest it's weight primarily on the hips will let the legs carry the armor while leaving the arms and shoulders free and unburdened, giving the wearer more of an edge in swordfighting.
