  1. I think even mail armour will be able to heat you up as well. Being made of metal, it tends to reflect infrared radiation (heat radiation). Your body gives off heat radiation, so it would be reflected back and keep you warmer even with mail. Although the effect would be much more severe with plate, since it's basically like strapping a giant IR-reflector to your body, trapping all the body heat inside.
