  1. I'm curious: in terms of mass production: did any ancient or medieval societies do any press stamping of breast plates? Looking at their size and shape, I imagine we'd stamp flat steel plates into the correct shape with machinery if anyone were to mass produce them today, so it would be interesting to know if they did anything similar back then.
