Being able to destroy light sources to stay hidden in the shadows has been done as far back as Thief: The Dark Project back in the 90's though. So while the mechanic makes sense, I can't give Ubisoft any credit for implementing something you'd consider a bare minimum in a stealth game.

@trvpmusic2569 Splinter Cell did it too. But Thief was the earliest example I could think of.

Some Shinobi or Kunoichi may not have had combat training at all too. They're spies after all. The purpose is to gather intelligence. So a kunoichi could do her job posing as a noblewoman's handmaiden and eavesdrop on important conversations. She could pose as a housekeeper, a cook, a prostitute in a brothel, a geisha pretty much any profession traditionally associated with women, really. Even assassinations could be undertaken without much combat training when you're working so close to the untended target as when you work as a member of a household staff or prostitute. You don't need to be a ninjutsu martial artist to slip poison in somebody's food or drink or start a fire in someones home or slip a dagger into someones body when they're sleeping.

@account1proton510 Yeah, it's strange how these devs talk about mechanics like they invented them.
