"Violence, naked force has settled more disputes in human history than has any other factor!" Robert A. Heinlein (My favourite quote to bring up when people start arguing that we have to "stop the drone strikes" against terrorists, or how they will just stop being terrorists if we start being "nice" to them)

Za Rodina: England isn't Britain. England is one country in Britain. Just as Ireland is. Therefore, calling an Irishman "British" is not inaccurate at all. Calling an Irishman "English" on the other hand would be.

germanvisitor2: And your explanation of "well war and civilian deaths!" doesn't cut it, as I've proven. Your conclusion is one based on ignorance. You haven't studied the philosophies and mindset of the terrorist. They are not staging terrorist attacks because of war and civilian deaths. Civilan deaths are the least of their concerns. They stage terrorist attacka because they hate us on an ideological level. They hate us for whar we stand for. For being profane against their religion. You can even read all of this in the Dabiq magazine (an actual magazine published and distributed by ISIS)

germanvisitor2: Sargon of Akkad made an illuminating video about the subject where he quotes directly from an article in Dabiq magazine, aptly named "Why we hate you!" And as you can see for yourself, the war and civilian deaths are of the lowest priority. Why should an ISIS terrorist care about any civilian deaths in the middle east? They fully accept slaughtering innocent civilians, not just in Europe and the U.S but even in middle eastern countries (the terrorist home countries) They don't give a shit about civilians dying. They'll kill anyone bevause the believe thay they are on an missiom from God to purge the planet of "infidels". And they've learned all of this from the Quran. https://youtu.be/8WiCG7oRze0

germanvisitor2: Omg, you really should excuse yourself from this discussion since you are completely ignorant of the military conflicts in the middle east and who "started" things.
3
germanvisitor2: That's right. Run with your tail between your legs into that bubble of ignorance that you live in.

Joseph Ahner: You cannot "create" a terrorist. Either a person is of a terrorist persuasion from the start (that is: civilian taking it upon themselves to use unlawful violence against others in order to get what they want) or they're not.
2
Joseph Ahner: Then why didn't we see this massive surge in terrorism in Europe following WW2? The civilian casualties were far greater than anything in the middle east in present day.
2
germanvisitor2: But there were during the war. Following your flawed logic, the many civilian deaths should've created a bumch of terrorists, but it didn't.

Makes me think: is there a reason why they didn't employ water cooled machine guns on their tanks?
2
Feuer der Veränderung: The vickers machinegun had water cooling around the barrel itself. But it became very heavy as a result. Which is why infantry machine guns evolved towards more portable, air cooled versions. That said, installed on a tank, the bulk of a water cooled machine gun wouldn't have the same issues as when infantry have to lug it around. I'm just thinking that in general, air cooled machine guns seem to overheat a lot quicker than water cooled machine guns did (it's basic physics really: water is a better conductor for heat than air is, therefore submerging a machine gun barrel in water would give it a better heat sink at ground level than just having it exposed to air) so maybe a watercooled machine gun would've been useful for tanks since their barrels wouldn't need to be replaced due to overheating as often?

edmundscycles1: No it's not. If it was, then the vickers and the maxim would've never even been used.
