  1. Anakin was compassionate. That was his problem. Granted, the Jedi philosophy is a bit inconsistent. But if you scrape the surface, it becomes pretty clear: Jedi has to be very unemotional in order to function. That includes forsaking feelings of compassion. Of course it's very inconsistent with how many Jedi protagonists behave. And I for one think Star Wars would've been much more interesting if the Jedi religion emphasized the logical behaviours required to truly become a Jedi master (basically a selfless, unemotional and nearly lobotomized person). It's pretty clear though that Anakin turned to the dark side because he couldn't control his compassion towards the people in his life that got hurt or killed.
