Salvation sucked. I spent my childhood watching a T-800 getting repeatedly shot by 5,56 mm and 7,62 mm rifles without flinching or sustaining any damage. Then along comes salvation and apparently a single 5,56 round to the head of a Terminator is enough to disable it permanently.

Quite so. I also liked the James Bond films. It's just sad they never made any more after Goldeneye.

@numhont211 Like I said... No James Bond film has been made since Goldeneye.

Here's the thing: the moment Skynet invented time travel, Skynet ultimately becomes impossible to stop. Once you start altering a timeline, there's no coming back from it because every alternate universe will always have the possibility for Skynet to send cyborg assassins back in time to kill the people trying to stop it. Pessimistic? Yeah. But it would be realistic.

@MUSICLOVER23429 Dude, they are up against a big brained A.I that doesn't even concern itself with a single timeline. Due to all of the sequels, it's becoming rather evident that Skynet is not above messing around with alternate universes to ensure it's own existence. Mere mortals will never be able to cope with that, no matter how much they think they know about time travel. It's also rather telling that the humans were never able to invent time travel for themselves. They basically needed Skynet to make it a reality.

@MUSICLOVER23429 I have to disagree. The fact that John Connor was concieved through intercourse involving a man that he himself had to send back in time to make his own birth possible suggests that timelines aren't fixed.

@MUSICLOVER23429 Listen to what you're saying "Kyle ALWAYS goes back in time". Semantically and logically this doesn't make any sense if you also exclude alternate timelines.

@MUSICLOVER23429 But for that to be possible, John Connor must at one point have been concieved without Kyle Reese in the picture. Because John Connor was born prior to the existence of Skynet. So "originally" John Connor must've had a different father. But that doesn't make sense because it means that at least two different John Connors would've existed during alternate timelines (the "original" before Skynet and before Kyle Reese got sent back in time, and the alternat John Connor which has Kyle Reese as his father) So your entire theory basically hinges on that two different fathers with two different sets of DNA would end up concieving the same man. DNA doesn't work that way.
