Ellen Ripley was a strong character. But not because of stoicism. She gave us a wide array of emotions of fear, terror, maternal instincts, being dutiful. She had admirable qualities, but was also demonstrably human. She was terrified a lot, but gritted her teeth and braved the xenomorph menace regardless. And that's why we like her and what contemporary hollywood writers just don't seem to get.

@MarvinHartmann452 Same. She's like my benchmark for strong female characters in writing. If they don't measure up to Ellen Ripley, then they don't measure up period. Not saying all female characters must be like her, but if they're to be portrayed as STRONG, then they better be written to give Ripley a run for her money.
