I know the feeling. My best tip is that you actually stay away from the tutorial stuff. Don't do missions in the beginning. Even though the game tries to push you to for some reason. I learned a heck of a lot more doing solo wormhole exploration. Also earned a lot more money doing it. Then for fighting, faction warfare was pretty great since you could do it in small, expendable ships against other players, figuring out how the combat mechanics really work.

The twitch streams are only boring if you don't know the game.

Same here. Personally I find that the abuse of hot-dropping ruined the game for me the most, since it basically force everyone who want to do something in the game to become a peon for one of the major coalitions in the game. Every muppet and his uncle travels through space, regardless of what ship they're in, with a cyno and as soon as they get ambushed they call in capital fleets to defend them. Massive capital fleet battles get old really fast (not only because of tidi, but just due to the format of them). The most exciting fights I've had were always in small roaming gangs in unfamiliar territory. But with the abuse of cynos, the smaller roaming gang fights get increasingly rare.

It has definitely been causing the game to break. It's not really the inflation of the value of isk that is the problem, but the value of capital ships that players buy for it.

@EconomicsExplained : Yes, that's true. I think it is intended. Eve might not be the largest MMO out there in terms of player numbers. But the ones that do play it really stick around as long as they can (which is hard, considering the time you must spend on it)
