  1. James Cameron directed T2 and Aliens. Both sort of did the "girl power" thing. Yet they both had massive male audiences cheering for Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor. It was a good kind of girl power. Lacking in identity political crap and constant pandering to minorities. I have yet to see any hollywood production pull that off since. Ellen Ripley will probably forever be my absolute favourite female protagonist in cinema ever. Such a perfect balance between resourceful badassery (duct-taping a freaking flame thrower to a pulse rifle, or beating up an alien queen in an exo-skeleton loader is worthy of respect) and traditional, wholesome femininity (not constant showing or cleavage and ass, but more of strong maternal instincts making her go through hell to save her surrogate daughter Newt) This is how strong, female characters should be made. Yet even James Cameron himself has lost touch with this creative process over the years.
