Clergy was nobility in practically everything but name: substantial land holdings, obesity and diabetes being the their primary cause of death, insane amounts of wealth, influence with kings and rulers etc.

@kamilszadkowski8864 : Peasants could be knighted and nobled as well. Usually for partaking in wars and doing outstanding services to the king. A very good example would be medieval Japan, especially after the rise to power of Hideyoshi Toyotomi. Which also spurred the many wars that Japan engaged in up until the Meiji reforms, because non-samurai saw the wars as an opportunity to become elevated into the samurai class. These types of battlefield commendations and promotions happened in ever feudal society on earth.

Kamil Szadkowski The point is that nobiliy wasn't as rigidly decided by birth or lineage as some people interpret history. Status and wealth was everything.
