The terrain in Poland is just awful. Endless fields everywhere. They're so big you hardly ever see a treeline. Rain will turn it into a sea of mud for vehicles to get stuck in and for infantry to get bogged down in. So if you're an invader, the defenders will quite literally see you coming a mile away.

@phunkracy Tanks get bogged down in mud too. And tanks don't really want to be in completely open terrain either, because artillery will have a field day with them when that happens. Tanks require a lot of close support from combined forces to feel safest in open terrain. At least during WWIi way before the invention of thermal imaging and the like. Nowadays tanks can spot threatening infantry quite far away. But then again, nowadays there's also a bigger threat from the skies with the obscenely accurate and fast aircraft equipped for destroying tanks. Not much you can do when a Warthog or something similar pproaches your position if you're in a tank.
