  1. I'd hope this would work. But these days, the conservative right engage in too much antagonism against the so called "far right", probably hoping that if they publicly disavow this segment of the right, they will somehow convert leftwingers to vote for the right, which is a really naive idea. The conservative right needs the far right voters to have any hope of winning, and vice versa. Doesn't mean that conservatives have to openly endorse the far right, but they do need to convince the far right that their policy is the lesser of two evils and will see some of the far right goals come to pass.
