  1. "I didn't choose to be born" is a falsehood though. You may not remember it. It may not have been a "conscious" decision as such. But every single cell of your body chose to be born. Every single cell fought to divide and turn you into who you are. Half of you fought desperately for survival when you were part sperm, racing towards the egg. You fought so hard that you consigned millions of potential brothers and sisters to their deaths when you were the first to burrow inside the egg. So whenever you think you didn't choose to be born because you're disatisfied with the new responsibilities life has forked on you, that's just buyers remorse. Nothing more.

  2. I've always wanted to be a mercenary though. But not to "run off with the money". I want to hunt the greatest predator of all: humans who can shoot back. My view is of being a mercenary is not capitalist but Darwinian. If I survive completing the mission, then not only have I earned my payment. I have earned my right to live, by putting myself in harms way and slaying my enemies. If I chicken out during a firefight, then I might be able to get my hands on the money. But I'll never get the experience of truly having earned the right to live. No monetary compensation would give the same satisfaction.
