Yes, tank destroyers can be very light weight. In Sweden, the tank destroyers were designed without turrets even. You aimed the gun by turning the tank using the tracks basically. This cut down the weight a lot, and also it made the tank destroyer have a much lower profile, so it was harder to spot from afar and it would dig itself into the ground for ambushing enemy tanks.

With sloped armor, the tiger could probably have gotten away with merely 80 millimeter armorplating or less, reducing it's weight.

To put the contrast in Russian mindset into perspective, NASA spent millions of dollar to develop a special made ballpoint pen that would work in zero gravity enviroments for use in space missions. The Russians just went "eh, fuck it. Have the cosmonauts use pencils for writing instead".

The gist to take away from the german tanks is this: individually they were top of the line engineering made manifest. Many advanced and sophisticated features and powerful weaponry. But logistically speaking, they were difficult to maintain and keep running. They lacked the simplicity desired in manufacturing and maintenance alike, which tanks like the Sherman and a couple of soviet tanks enjoyed. So while american and soviet tanks had difficulties dealing with german tanks 1v1, the americans and soviet tank factories could simply spit out more tanks at a faster rate than the german factories could.
